Asbestos and Lead Consultant

CJSeto is seeking two licensed and experienced Asbestos and Lead Environmental Consultant to work at the VA facility in Los Angeles.  These positions are full-time positions and is 100% at government facilities. Work would be performed under the direction of a Certified Industrial Hygienist.

The Environmental Consultant position is responsible for conducting and overseeing asbestos and lead surveys, abatement oversight and air and waste sampling. The ideal candidate will possess a current DOSH certification as a Certified Asbestos Consultant (CAC) and DPH Lead Inspector / Assessor/ Project Monitor certification with 5+ years of environmental industry experience providing building-related consulting services.

The core working hours are 9am to 2pm, but must work a full 8 hour day.  Occasional projects may occur during evening hours, on Saturday and / or Sunday, but this is not routine.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide asbestos building materials, lead-based paint and hazardous material surveys
  • Provide abatement project oversight, air sampling, materials sampling and waste sampling, data collection, monitoring hazardous materials contractors for regulatory and contractual compliance and routine client and contractor interactions
  • Assist with report preparation
  • Completes the project records at the close of the project, documents the required closeout data and organizes the project records and permanent project files
Skills / Qualifications
  • AA or BS degree in Environmental Sciences, Industrial Hygiene or related science field is a plus
  • 5+ years of experience providing building-related consulting services in residential, educational, commercial and industrial settings.
  • Current California DOHS Asbestos CAC certification, NIOSH 582 is a plus
  • Current California DPH Lead Inspector/Assessor/Project Monitor certification
  • Candidates must be able to pass a background check and drug screening
  • Successful candidate must have the ability to work independently, be timely and thorough
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, computer competency in Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel
  • Report writing is required
  • Job activities will require the use of respiratory protection and other personal protective equipment. The successful candidate must be able to pass a respirator, asbestos and lead medical clearance examination
  • The job will require occasional lifting of 50 lbs, field work at construction sites and strict adherence to our safety policies
  • Candidates will commute to various project locations throughout Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System and must have a current California drivers license and reliable transportation
